하트하트재단은 지난 3년간 탄자니아 음트와라의 지방정부와 협력하여 안질환인 트라코마 예방 및 치료 사업을 실시해왔습니다. 본 사업은 WHO가 지정한 SAFE(S=수술A=항생제 보급, F =얼굴위생, E =환경개선) 전략에 기반을 두고 수술캠프, 초등학생의 얼굴위생교육, 환경개선을 위한 화장실 건축과 물탱크를 설치 프로젝트를 진행하고 있습니다.


최근 재단에서 발표한 통계자료에 의하면, 3년 동안 총 2,610건의 수술을 실시하여 트라코마 질병율 35%를 감소시켰으며, 수술과 사후관리를 통해 음트와라 지역사회의 위생의식도 향상되었다고 나타나고 있습니다.


이와 더불어 음트와라 지역의 21개 초등학교에 화장실을 건축하였고, 13개교에 물탱크를 설치하였습니다. 탄자니아 하트하트재단 지부 관계자는 “우리는 모든 학생들이 트라코마 예방을 위한 위생교육을 받은 후에 화장실을 깨끗이 이용할 뿐만 아니라 위생의 중요성을 인식하여 개인의 삶의 질이 향상되기를 기대합니다.”고 말했습니다.


하트하트재단은 한국에 위치한 비영리단체로써 2009년부터 “탄자니아 린디, 음트와라 트라코마 예방 및 치료사업”을 시작해왔으며, 최근에 재단은 음트와라 지방정부와 3번째 협약을 맺어 트라코마 예방 및 퇴치를 위한 사업을 진행하고 있습니다.




Heart to Heart Foundation for the last three years has worked with local authorities in Mtwara to eliminate trachoma eye disease.


According to a statement issued by the organization, the purpose of the organization's activity s to eliminate trachoma disease by doing surgery and performing the contemplated school sanitation improvement project. "the project is based on WHO-endorsed SAFE strategy. Surgery for in-turned eyelids, Antibiotics for active disease, fase washing to prevent infection and environmental change as another preventive measure" said part of the statement.


Heart to Heart is a korean non-profitable organization located in Seoul Korea which has been working in Tnazania from 2009. Recently the organization signed the 3rd Memorandum of Understanding with Mtwara District Council.


The latest statisgics issued by the organization indicate that eye surgery and follow up management under the project has strengthened the sense of hygiene and sanitation of the Mtwara community. "In the last 3 years, 2,610 trachoma eye cases decreased surgery load by 35%"


Besides the organization has built 21 public latrines and water tanks in 21 primary schools in Mtwara region.
The statement further said: " We expect all students can further themselves after the trachoma education and sanitation and uphold a sense of hygiene as well as support this latrine improvement activity."
