[2023 World Sight Day in Bangladesh] As part of an annual events, the second Thursday of every October holds a special significance as it is celebrated as World Sight Day. This day is officially designated by the World Health Organization (WHO) back in 2014, with a primary focus on addressing blindness and visual impairment as critical global public health concerns. Its objective is to raise awareness about the importance of eye health among the general public. Notably, this year's theme, 'Love your eyes at work,' served as a central slogan during the global commemoration of World Sight Day. ** The slogan 'Love your eyes at work' was introduced as a key element of the 2023 World Sight Day campaign, designated by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB). The campaign's aim is to promote an understanding of the significance of eye health within workplaces and to encourage organizational leaders to prioritize the protection of their employees' eye health. <”Love your eyes at work” parade in Dhaka>
World Sight Day in 2023, the Heart-to-Heart Foundation Bangladesh branch office worked together with 11 organizations that are actively engaged in eye health. These organizations are part of the National Eye Care program, which is supervised by the Bangladesh Ministry of Health. Together, they launched the 'Love your eyes at work' campaign, involving a rally to effectively raise awareness about the importance of eye health in the workplace. Additionally, in the afternoon, the participating institutions, along with the National Institute of Ophthalmology Hospital, engaged in comprehensive discussions regarding eye health management in the context of 'Love your eyes at work.' These discussions revolved around strategies to enhance awareness of eye health within the local community. Throughout the month of October, the Heart to Heart Foundation is gearing up to conduct eye outreach camps in the industrial zones of the Savar region. This initiative will include eye examinations and support for treatment to over 200 workers. Heart-to-Heart Foundation has a notable 9 years record of offering fundamental eye healthcare services to about 19,000 factory workers in the Dhaka Export Processing Zone of Bangladesh. This was achieved as part of the 'Eye Health Promotion and Prevention of Blindness in Selected Areas of Bangladesh' conducted by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) from 2014 to 2023. Thanks to this wealth of experience, their involvement in this year's campaign slogan has special significance, and they have glad to join in. <The Heart-to-Heart Foundation's branch office in Bangladesh participated in the "Love your eyes at work" parade> Currently, the Heart to Heart foundation is intensifying its preparations for the ‘Integrated Primary Eye Health Strengthening Project in Savar, Bangladesh’ We eagerly anticipate sharing updates on this project soon, and your continued interest and support are highly valued. ???? “Love Your Eyes at Work” ?
