Mangyans have lived in the jungle for many centuries since they went into the mountains to evacuate from the oppression and exploitation of the invaders. Until now, they live there on a primitive life in poverty while the Philippine government ignores their well being.

Because they had lived without electricity, they were astonished by the solar lamps which light up the darkness. Regardless of ages, all of them were so happy to laugh aloud clapping their hands when the solar lamps were turned on.
