Village Health Supporting Group’s Story(VHSG)!

Heart to Heart International Cambodia have been working on strengthening eye health capacity in communities based on Cambodia National Strategic Plan for Blindness Prevention and Control 2016-2020. 

We have been promoting eye health awareness for community residents in cooperation with VHGSs who serve as liaison between communities and health centers.

Primary Eye Health Training for VHSGs 

A lot of people with eye diseases cannot be treated due to the lack of recognition of Primary Eye Health. VHSGs are villagers who carry out eye health activity effectively in each community.

As a part of the training, VHSGs visit the vision center and experience what is being done there. After the training, VHSGs implement eye health activity in the community to find patients and send them to the vision center.

Vision Center Rounding 

In collaboration with VHSGs, Heart to Heart International Cambodia will keep trying to prevent and treat avoidable eye diseases.

*  The Heart to Heart International, which is in charge of project for strengthening the function and capacity of Secondary eye health system in Siem Reap, contributes to the improvement of the eye health in Siem reap district supporting the vision center operation and third-level eye surgery, delivering eye health care services, and establishing an eye health system with the support of the KOICA.
