On 19th December, Heart to Heart International Tanzania Branch held Completion Ceremony to celebrate the completion of water and sanitation facility construction. The event was held at both Narward Primary school and Kilimanihewa Dispensary, where latrine and borehole have been installed funded by KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency). In 2019, 14 water facilities (borehole and rainwater system) and 4 latrines for primary schools, and 3 water facilities for health facilities have been constructed in Lindi District. DED (Lindi District Executive Director), Education and Health Department Officials, Community leaders, local residents and students participated in this ceremony and congratulated on the opening of improved latrine and borehole for drinking water. DED, the guest of honor, said “HtHI in partnership with KOICA has implemented this project for the benefit of the entire community and hopefully community will use well these toilet and borehole and will also be monitored daily by officials and community to make it exists for long time.” Completed toilet and water facility were handed over from HtHI to Health Facility and School. The health and school committee members provided maintenance training will be strongly engaged in facility management with local ownership. HtHI will do utmost to achieve our own goal for establish system of prevent WASH-realated disease by strengthening the access to safely managed water and sanitation environment in primary schools and dispensary and improving sanitation behavior of local residents in the second year. * Heart to Heart International has been running Prevent Waterborne Diseases through Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Lindi, Tanzania with the support of KOICA.
