'Heart-to-Heart Wind Orchestra', consisted of the youth having developmental disabilities for the first time in Korea, visited LA for the LA performance from Sep. 30 to Oct. 1.
The concert, hosted by Korean pastors association in Southern California(president pastor Jaeyeon Kim) and sponsored by the newspaper will take place at Global Vision Church in Northridge 7pm on 30th, and at Oriental Mission Church in Cerritos 7pm on Oct. 1 respectively.
The orchestra that started the concert on 24th in US by the invitation of the professional institution for developmental disabilities in Chicago ‘Ray Graham Association' finished the stage successfully in Chicago and showed high expectation towards the two times of performances in LA.
It was their first overseas tour since its founding in 2006. Therefore a moment after a moment was a challenge itself to the members and their families. Over 14 hours of long trip to overseas country, performing in foreign country, unfamiliar environment and the people they saw for the first time…. All of these were not easy for them. But the staffs explained that all of them follow the schedule having results beyond their expectation.
Miho Lee(50), the mother of Beonsun Nam(27) who did saxophone solo performance with the orchestra, said, "Disability means the children are weak, but it's pleased to see the children adjusting to the new environment well and following the schedule", and added, "Solo performance with orchestra was the first experience to him. My son expressed satisfaction and unsatisfaction depending on the result. It was so amazing to see his reaction".
The team leader Eonhye Oh from Heart-to-Heart Foundation said, "the concert has been prepared for a year. I hope they can show their ability in LA. You would have huge impression and find hope if you listen with your heart not with your ears.
The music concert at Global Vision Church on 30th is performed with Valley Korean Woemn's Master Chorale, Global Vision choir union and with Seoul High School Alumni Chorale and Mugunghwa Women's Corale at Cerritos on Oct. 1st and the gospel singer wit autism Margaret Lee will join on the second stage.
